loki got startled when we came into the room and jumped/fell from his basking area into the water... but in the process he scratched his arm on the rock and is showing a little bleeding, not gushing blood but its visible..

i removed him from his tank and put him in another container with clean water in hopes to prevent things from getting into his cut... is there anything else i should do... i saw something about betadine but im reluctant to put anything on his cut cause what ive read says that it may actually hurt the healing process...

suggestions??

thank you in advance.

Vet ASAP! If you wait too long, his arm can become infected and he can get very very ill.Dont put anything on him unless a vet tells you so.

How bad is the "scratch"? If it's not big, deep and there's not much blood, I'd clean it (you can use diluted betadine if that's what you have) and let him stay out of the water for a while to let the air on it.

If it's bad, having the vet look at it would be a good idea.

it doesn't look to be bleeding at all anymore, and he is active and will eat... so I am hoping that it will heal on its own fairly quickly... I have already spoken to the vet, so I will just wait and see what happens, thanks!
