Thanks for all the great advise. We followed all suggestions, got a water heater, uv light along with the basking light we already owned. REMOVED the gravel! A couple of days after posting here, we saw a black oval shaped object at the bottom of the tank with a odd green looking gel around it . Freaked us out! The day before we cleaned snappys tank and let him bask in the sunlight. I thought may be he had picked up a visitor.
after further examination I think it was gravel in poop. The next day snappy was moving around like when we first got him, He started eating and now is beggind for food, moving around his tank and Snappy seems much better. again thanks to all who helped.... trina and j.c.

I'm glad he's feeling better (and pooped out that gravel!). Keep an eye on him though in case he still has some in there. But if he's eating and pooping normally again you should be okay. Only an x-ray from a vet will be able to tell if all the gravel is gone though.

That's such good news! Just keep a close eye on him and make sure he's still feeling good. I think David's right - if he had some gravel in him he might have more. An x-ray would tell you for sure.
