ok l8ly i have been noticeing some problems w/ georges shell and i have researched it on here and my theory is that he is not shedding well so bateria has started to grow under the scutes that have some air trapped in it, the temp of the tank is 78degrees and his water has a ph level of between6.8 and 7.2 the total alkalinity is 300ppm and my water hardness is nearly zero, i have rubbed down the shell spots that are white with viniger and it has little effect. I think because his scutes are not comming off well enough. he eats vegtables and turtle sticks and has been with out his UVB bulb for the past few weeks because my clamp light broke, and i do not have another light that i can use. I am going to try and buy some cuttle bone but i need to get a ride to the petstore. does anyone have any suggestions that might improve his shell health? also is their any veggies that have high calcium levels?

Dandelion leaves have a lot of calcium. What type of pellets are you using and can you post a pic of the shell (one wet, one dry)?

I have this part of the lamp that works, do you have a clamp or stand to use it with?

The wet shell doesn't tell me anything. In the one pic of the shell dry with someone holding him, the whitish areas on the upper left of the shell look like he's starting to shed in spots (he doesn't appear to be shedding the whole scute, just little flakes). What is that black area on the next scute down near the seam and what are those two extremely white spots on the right further down?

If it's still warmish where you are, you could take him out for some UVB rays. Dandelions are arguably the best veggie for calcium, but you could try also collards occasionally as well as chicory, and if you can get it, duckweed, an aquatic plant. Aside from increasing the calcium, a varied diet in general would help. What exactly is his diet like?

lol u kno as well as i since we are both in CT its been a bit chilly, his diet is turtle sticks everyother day and i also give him romaine lettice and carrots mostly a few times a week, i would give him romaine every day but i do have my painters 2 and i cannot take to much vegtable cause then my family wont have any for dinner. sorry for the bad pics the most discoloration is on the left bottom scutes of his shell they are a pale white. the bright white spots is just the flash.

Sorry, forgot where you are (and there's no info at the left to remind me). Where in CT are you?

guys georges shell has more white spots it seems to be spreading, can this be due to a lack of nutrients? the shell is still very hard, i tryed rubbing them off with viniger but the spots are under the shell, his UVB bulb is up and running and his water temp is steady at 78degrees anything else i can do?

Is he basking? Does he have both a UVB light and a light for heat (like a lightbulb)? What's the temp of the basking area?

In your pics above, aside from the one or two you said was due to the flash, I don't really see distinguishable spots. I see what looks like whitish areas (the pics aren't that clear to really show detail), and this looks like shedding. Do the edges of the whitish-colored scutes look like they're lifting at all?
