The water was clean according to the tests, but there looks to be a film substance on the top, and he is also shedding because of the warmer water. Is that normal for the top of the water to look like that?

Angle the output of the filter so that it agitates the surface slightly, which should help. If you're feeding him foods/pellets in the tank that have a high oil content, it will also contribute to a slightly oily film. If you're not doing so, you could feed him in a separate container of water.

I'll try that filter adjustment. I angled downwards because I thought it would cause him problems when swimming if it made all agitation on the surface. But that probably doesn't matter. And I have been feeding him in a dish pan.

If the current is too strong, angle the output toward a wall of the tank.

Thank you Marisa for the tip on the positioning of the filter!!! The top of the water looks much better now. And as for Wilson, I think I was just being a hypocondriac (if I spelled that right). He isn't sleeping as much. I think he wasn't fed very well at the pet store, so that caused him to have low amounts of energy at first. He seems very active throughout the day and I can sometimes catch him basking. I think my bad experience with a sick turtle back in Feb/Mar has caused me to be a little paranoid. Hopefully Wilson will continue to stay healthy!!!
