Meg, I was referring to the statement near the end where they said they will be searching for a new administration team with new strict requirements. In the one thread that I looked at under their Health forum, even the forum admins/mods were ranting about how disgusted they were with that company. It would actually be comical if it wasn't so sick what was happening over there. Obviously they are going to crack down on what is posted on there so it will only boost their "market image" and continue their deceptive practice.

BTW, PETA says they know full well about these guys. Unfortunately they said they are having an incredibly difficult time tracking down the company. I'm not sure why. But they are actively looking into it, so if anyone knows more specifics about the owners/employees or business location, let me know and I will forward the info to them. Thanks.

Oh, I was just so amazed by the site I think I misunderstood you. That is too bad PETA's having difficulty tracking them down, I'm glad they're on PETA's radar though. If there were less companies like this aquatic turtles would be in such a better situation.

I'm not exactly sure what could be accomplished if Peta finds them. We need to have what ever inspectors are available in Florida and bust them for all of their federal and state violations.

madmax, sorry to hear you lost him. If you are willing to try again and have the necessary supplies, you should consider one of the several rescues in NY. Finding an older turtle will make it easier for you and the turtle.

PETA does say that they will contact the appropriate authorities once they have all the evidence gathered and they will actively see it through. If the authorities don't take action, they are very good at boycotting and negative campaigning/advertising/press when needed. They can be overmilitant sometimes, but in this case I'd say it is warranted.

It's really a bad choice to order online for a baby RES. Most reputable dealers don't even offer them (Dime a dozen theory). If you were to order an exotic ($) turt, you can bet that it would arrive safely and on time (again, you would pay a premium for that).
I know most people who start out want a cute little green baby RES (when my niece bought me my three kids as a gift I was pretty mad, knowing she got them from Chinatown, NYC, something I wouldn't think of doing, but I just couldn't resist taking them in), you owe it to yourself to check out the rescue centers in your area. Even if they don't have any RES to adopt, I'm sure they could send you in the right direction. There are some online adoption centers too.

Wow, that's sad...I do wonder what kind of trip they experienced. Probably horrifying.

Oh my, he's so tiny and pretty! Makes you want to take care of him! So he seems to be adjusted well - eating and swimming around a lot?

Congrats! Looks like you were one of the fortunate ones. Your baby looks very nice! :D

FWIW, I still would never order anything from them again knowing what they've done to other turtles and customers. Some turtles are strong enough to handle very poor conditions but the fact that so many sick and dying turtles come out of there shows that the general state of affairs over there is pretty bad. That's too much suffering for the majority of their baby turtles to justify their business.
