koch, if picking up live worms is what it takes to get your turtle to eat, then that's what I'd do. Buy some thin plastic/latex gloves if you don't want to touch them. Bloodworms I've seen are all really small (and I don't think I've seen live ones, but maybe you have them where you are). You should be able to get them at aquarium stores. You could also try cut-up earthworms (get somebody to cut one up if you can't).

You need to keep the water warm (81-82F = 27-28C, I think). If the water is too cool, your turtle won't/can't eat.

Please don't just wait and "see what happens"...

A few comments:

1. I'm confused about this.. the regular light bulb wasnt heating up the water when i was using it before. The lightbulb is for heating up the basking area not the water. You need a water heater for that.

2. You spent money to take the turtle to the vet twice and spent money on the antibiotics but now are going to take a .. wait and see attitude when it comes to eating? Isn't that sort of throwing away your money? Get some live food as the vet suggested. You don't have to touch it.. you can use tweezers as someone else suggested. That's what I'd do and I'm pretty much a wuss when it comes to that sort of stuff :)

they recommended that i buy live blood worms as the movement initiates them to eat etc. anyway i cannot stand touching things like that so i dont know what excatly to do.

I feed my turtle with a small baby food spoon since she would eat my fingers off when I feed her treats. For a smaller turtle, a salt spoon should work nicely. A "salt spoon" is typically available at an antique shop (that's where I have bought them in the past).

thats awesome news, bro.
From the homegrowers soul, straight to his lungs. That's the method that I myself find fun. Start from seed and then you'll see, just how fun homegrowing can be.

A good way to get your turtle to open its mouth is to poke it in the arm constantly to get it mad, it will start snapping a bit and then open its mouth long enough to drop something in, use something to keep its mouth open, like a q tip and then drop whats need in. It sound cruel, but you need to do whatever you can to keep your turtle alive.

Yeah, thats the truth.. I've never had to give meds, and I read on here that people have to force meds by mouth... I've always wondered how it would be possible when my turt wont open her mouth on demand.. sometimes she gets pissed and opens her mouth at me, but only for a few seconds
