well i just aquired a 50gal tank with two RESs in them. when i got it, the water was very low murky and stank. didnt look like they were fed in a while too.

one of the turtles, i named him Todo, has some of the scales on his shell peeling off a bit and grim accumulating underneath them. is this normal? or signs of malnutrition?

other than that they look good. i will try and get picuters up.

The scales peeling off (they're called "scutes" on the shell) might be normal shedding from what you wrote, but i'm not sure. Pictures will help a lot.

Welcome to the forum. What does the shell look like after you've cleaned it up a bit? As octopusgirl8 said, pictures would help (the shell should be dry).
