One of my boys I've noticed today has been looking like he's got the hiccups... either that or he's trying to vomit.. Im not sure what. He's been doing it for about a half hour. He is otherwise fine, eating normally and swimming around fine. Do turtles get the hiccups? or is it something else? He keeps opening and closing his mouth...under water though, not above... Is this something to be concerned about or should I stop staring at him?

I can't remember ever seeing actual hiccups, but they will open and close their mouths under water. They could do it to drink, to let some air out of their lungs, or if they're going to eat something, for example.

If I were a turtle, I don't think I'd appreciate it having a big creature staring at me for half an hour. If he's otherwise fine like you say, I wouldn't worry about it.
