We think our slider might have eaten a rubber band. It would have been in the last 24 hours. He's about 20 and has generally been a pretty healthy turtle but we're worried about this possible development. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with anything like this?

Thanks,
C&P (and Go, the turtle)

How large was the rubberband?
He may pass it, but you'll need to keep your eyes out to make sure he's still pooping.
If he starts acting stressed and isn't passing anything, you'll need to take him to the vets.

The rubber band probably will be ok. Look out for his poop and his behavior. I had one eat carpet put down for his basking area and I noticed it hanging out of his rear and help him get it out with some tweezers.

Thanks, all.

We'll keep an eye on him and hope the rubber band makes it's way out. I was wondering if there was anything in particular we could feed him to help him move things along faster. Any thoughts?

Thanks again

Lettuce, but not too much. When turtles are given too much lettuce, their poo becomes liquidy and more frequent. Just don't get into the "too much" range and that should help things along. Maybe some blueberries, I think those have good fiber in it. And make sure you grab that poo before he re-eats it!
