I have a question. I just changed the water & cleaned out the tank for my turtles. I always add one of the water conditioner blocks that are shaped like a turtle. Well this time my Crush starting eating it. Does anyone know if it will harm them. Its late, so I can't call the vet til in the morning.

I've heard that those things don't actually do anything to the tank. A real conditioner would be reptisafe or aquaclear. Do you offer cuttlebone to your turts? They could be craving calcium.

yes, they have a cuttlebone in the tank. I always have 1 in there for them. I've just never seen either of them eating on it like that. She actually ate almost half of it. Until I put a couple carrots in there then she went for those

You shouldn't add those turtle conditioners. Not only are they a waste of money, but you don't want your turtle constantly exposed to dilute amounts of sulfa. If you ever need to use the drug for a real shell issue your turtle may have already built up a tolerance, making it ineffective. Plus, it's not healthy for them to eat.

I think most people say that after eating that, their turtles tend to experience diarrhea, so look out for that and keep the tank clean. And like everyone else says, probably discontinue the use of it.

thanks everyone. I will stop using them. My vet reccommended them. I'll call her & let her know what happened though.

Keeping the tank and water clean would be healthier for your turtle. Put your money to better use for your turtle. :D
