Looks like an abscess even though it doesn't look colored. You probably already know, but it's necessary to see a vet so it can be cut and bled (there's a word for the process, but it escapes me).

The process of opening up an abcess is "lance" It should be done by a vet. If you try it the infection will probably spread. This is another "vet time"

I don't think color has been discussed before with previous abscesses but your turtle looks to have a classic case of one.

He should be OK. It seems to be a fairly routine procedure so it should go smoothly. Here are some Q's you might have: www.redearslider.com/choose_vet.html

If an abcess is large, there is often a paler/whitish look to the lump. Otherwise, the coloration may not really be that different. Have the lump looked at ASAP.

So I took scout to the vet today. She said that it was an auricular abscess. She gave him a shot and antibiotic powder to coat his food with. She also said that if it was possible we should apply heat to the area to help liquify the puss to allow for better drainage. If the medicine doesnt work he needs it lanced. Scouts fine, he didnt like the shot lol :)
