Like I've said before I have 2 hatchling RES who came from a bad environment. One of them is very lethargic and won't stop basking. The other one won't bask and hides behind the basking dock. They just started eating (I was super excited) but they don't seem healthy. I don't know if their eyes are swollen because they look the same as they did the day I got them and they could have been swollen then.

I will post a picture when I can, I do not currently know the location of my camera.

Help please.

I went back and read your other posts to check up on your setting before asking for the info :)

Is your tank in a high traffic area by any chance? If that is so, that could be why your one turtle won't bask. Is the basking area big enough for both of them to be on it comfortably at the same time? What are the water and basking temps? As for the swollen eyes, do they seem to have any sort of discharge at all? RES have "puffy" eyes naturally btw. Has there been any scratching at them, are they opening ok? Are there any other signs of an RI beginning?

I've noticed that my turtles have been basking more the past week or so and just have attributed it to the change in seasons. Just so many possibilities.

They are in my room and I am near them every once in a while, but other then that, no one is near them. The dock is definately big enough for both of them (and 3 more). The water temp is kinda high right now because i am dumb becuase i forgot to turn the light off eariler. Water is at 80ish and basking is at 87ish.

I live in Florida so I doubt change in temp could be the issue. ;-)

If you aren't sure if their eyes are swollen, comparing them to other pics would be a good way to determine that.

Here's a link to a pic of swollen eyes: http://www.resoasis.com/pictures/eye-1.jpg

Besides a lot of basking are there other symptoms? Bubbles from the nose outside of water, lop-sided swimming? Taking him to a herp vet might be a good idea if this continues. :)

My RES's eyes protrude a bit, but they're not puffy. The fact that they're eating is a positive sign--the one that basks a lot gets into the water and eats when you feed them?

What exactly are they being fed?

Have you tried razing your basking temp to "coax" the turtle that won't bask? It should be about 10 degree's higher than the water temp. My water temp is 75 and my turtles like the basking to be 90-95 or they won't come out of the water.

How long have you had them? Could they be adjusting to the new environment?

Thankyou so much for posting that pic of swollen eyes because when I first got my RES, she would sleep a lot or have her eyes closed on her dock and I kept thinking she had swollen eyes but now I can see she definetely didnt.

Its hard to tell if you havent ever seen this before because their eyes are naturally puffy looking.

the water temp isn't normally that high. I just forgot to turn the basking light off and it rasied the water temp.

I dont know why one wont bask and why won't stop basking.

If you talking about UVB as the basking light, the UVB doesn't give off much heat. The UVA does
