My Nicaraguan is limp, eyes closed and doesn't respond. Outer edge of shell is soft. He's dead right?

I'm actually quite mad at Paul V. for sending me a turtle who wasn't in good shape. He was sick when he arrived and he was covered in Alge. I think I should have at least been warned about that.

Should I remove the turtle from the rock, or can I wait until tomorrow?

Is he kept separately from the other one? The symptoms don't sound good. I'd keep him warm, but if his limbs start to stiffen, then it's over :(

He's limbs arn't stiff, but when I turn him upside down, his head just plops that way instead of staying stiff like it should.

No, he's not seperated because I didn't have anough money to get another heater and stuff.

The other one is thriving.

Well I'm sure he's dead, but just in case, I wrapped him up and put him in the freezer to make sure. I'm going to bury him later.

Just curious, but why are you so sure he's dead? You said his limbs weren't stiff. Did you try gently tugging on them? If so, was there any reaction?

Completly unresponsive. Hasn't moved for days. Head flops back and fourth when moved.

Skin is starting to look nasty.

I was at work when he "died," and my mom says his head and limbs were stiff then, so he probably already went through rigormortus.

I'm sorry he didn't make it, he didn't sound too good from the start. Don't beat yourself up you did everything right.

I'd talk to paul about getting a refund when you're ready, I know right now it's more important to mourn your loss, but Paul definitely should be held accountable for that poor little guy.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm sure you did everything you could. Keep an eye on the other one to make sure he doesn't start to get sick from being exposed to the one.
