Long time no talk I know...
Okay so as some of you may know, I have a large female RES, (and several smaller ones). They are all in an outside enclosure. On December 28th I went out to feed them and noticed that my large female RES had one swollen eye....
Here are two pictures (from the 28th):
So after seeing this I went on here and another reliable forum and it stated to get human eye ointment and treat two times a day... So I got walgreen's brand eye lubricant ointment and put on her eye and dry docked her for the night.
I cleaned their pond and got rid of the algae that was in there and after dry docking her for that night she seemed fine and her eye looked better... Then it looked bad again the next day so I did the whole eye treatment and dry docking (I don't like dry docking her, because it stresses her out) Yesterday I went out, after leaving her out all night, and I found her with both eyes swollen. So I dry docked her, and treated both eyes with the ointment last night, the smorning, and tonight. Tonight her one eye looked a little better.
What do I do? Do I continue to treat for another week and see if they clear up? Is there another home treatment I can give her? I really don't want to put her thru the stress of going to the vet.... Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone
