Hi there just wondering if this is shell rot? I just noticed it today. And if it is, what do I do about it?

Hard to tell from my phone, but it might be some initial shedding.

ok thanks, I'm so worried. i went to the pet store and the guy suggested i get some vita shell so i put that on him. it's got some green in it as well so I'm assuming that's algae. it's not really soft or anything either

Use a new toothbrush to gently scrub the area if you'd want to. Vitashell is not very good for shells, I'd return it or stop using it.

So I brushed the shell with a soft tooth brush last night and now I think it looks worse this morning. What do you think? Is it still just shedding?

Should I wait a few days to see if it improves? Or take him to the vet?

Still looks like shedding to me. Hard to be certain from the pics. Were you able to get the algae off?

If it is shedding then what are the white spots? And why are they getting bigger?

White spots could be areas where it's starting to shed. But again, I need better pictures to give a better opinion.

I would rule out fungus and mineral deposits. I think it's mainly shedding since you can see that it's affecting the older sections of the scute.
