I'm not sure if his shell is normal or not...I've changed his basking bulb from 60W to 40W & also stopped feeding the shrimp...5-6 pellets in the morning & the same in the evening with red leaf through the day...am I over feeding? I also do a 100% water change in his tank every Friday...this is all new to me & I'm stumped...please help



How big is your turtle? Little over an inch
How long have you had it? 2 weeks

What is the water temperature? 80
Did you use a thermometer? Yes
Are you using a water heater? No
How much water is in there? 10 gallon tank half full
Are you using a water conditioner? Yes
Are you using any filtration? Yes

What is the basking temperature? 85-90
Is there a basking light? Yes
Is there a basking platform that is easy to climb on? Yes
What kind is it or what is it made out of? Zoo Med Dock
Is there a UVB light? Yes

What have you been trying to feed it? Omega One Juvenile Pellets, Red Leaf Lettuce, Zoo Med Growth Formula
When was the last time your turtle ate? Last Night

How big is the tank/pond/enclosure? 10 gallon
Is the tank near a window? No
Is the tank in a room with a lot of activity? Dining area

Have you read the Basic Care section? Yes
Have you searched the forums for similar situations? Yes

Is there any other unusual activity/symptoms? No

I'm not very sure if it is normal. It may be dicolured spots which is umm bad.

It looks a little rough, but OK in general. I can't tell everything from the pic but I would update weekly (give or take) to document any possible issues.

Well it's 1 week later & Roscoe's shell hasn't changed much...he's still eating & swimming well so idk what to think...maybe he's in the beginning stages of shedding :?...I'll just continue to keep an eye on him & keep updating

Yup, keep a close eye on it. I'd also swap out the gravel in the tank.

Here's the latest pic of Roscoe's shell(taken yesterday)...seems to me he's shedding & growing...he's basking, eating & swimming great...let me know if you agree or not about his shell looking fine

Looks alright but he might be growing too fast (the seams appear pretty thick).
