We are new to keeping captive Turtles. I just wanna wish your little guy well. He was probably dropped from a height and most likely pecked at by the crow. We saw crows dig up a freshly laid turtle nest as soon as the female was done and returned to the pond. Sorry to hear this little one had such a traumatic event happen in its young life. It's interesting to me that it burried itself, I wonder if they do this in the wild when they are injured so they are protected while they heal.
I second the vet option, if you have a good reptile vet in your area, you would feel much better getting professional advice on his/her care.
