This is the white toward the back of the shell and on the right side of the body in the second pic? How long has he had it? If it's cotton-like, it could be a fungus, but it's a little difficult to tell from the angle the pics were taken at. Does it come off the shell easily? You could try aquarium salt baths to see if that helps.

What exactly is the water temp and the basking area temp?

That's one lovely blue eye (the other one is just closed, not swollen, is it?).

BTW, some of those pebbles are awfully small. It would be better to remove them and use something that's bigger, too big for your turtle to be tempted to try to eat. If you change the water every other day, what size tank is your turtle in? Does he have a UVB light as well as a basking light?

The white stuff comes off the shell really easily but i dont knwo how to get it of the rest of his body cause if i try to get it he just sucks in and i dont want to pull on him.. cause thats like torture. His eye is fine he must have just felt like closing it in the pic.. i dont knwo why. the water temp is at 80 and basking area on a rock is at 90

I also think it could be fungus. It might also be some skin shedding. You could try a sulfa dip to see if that helps.

in the second pic, that stuff hanging off him doesn't look like normal skin shedding... skin shedding kinda looks like spiderwebs hanging off ... but that piece of skin looks solid kinda, just by the way it is sticking out... hes a cute little guy though!

A 30-liter tank is a little over 8 gallons, if I'm calculating correctly. Did you mean gallons?

It's probably fungus. Go to see a vet, it's probably not too severe since it's coming off easily. But don't wait around or it could get bad.

I vote fungus on the shell. A simple vet visit can get your turtle some medicine for his shell.

I see that the original post was from the first of November. I hope the problem was taken care of long ago!

Yeah, I agree. Why'd you dig the topic up sparky? The original poster just came here, used the forum and ditched it...

Nobody seems to pay attention to the dates. Perhaps we should lock inactive posts after 30 days...
