Here's the deal. I've had my turtle for 3-4 years and he's always been relatively healthy. If I didnt know the basics of turtle care he'd be long gone by now. However .... his body is doing stuff I've never seen before and it scares me.

His shell plate are shedding at a fast rate. They're not all falling off at once or anything but its like he's losing a few (3-5) plates a week. As the plates shed the top of his shell is changing color from the former dark green to a light green with a yellow tint to it.

Is this normal?? He's shed plates before but never this much at once and I dont recall any color changes.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Is he shedding thin translucent layers or thick layers? A pic would be helpful.

How long has he been doing this? If it's been going on for a long time, is the shedding repeated (have scutes that have shed once shed again?)?

What is his diet like?
