I believe my turtle's eyes are infected, when I lift them open with a cue tip there is yellow puss covering the eyes. They are swollen shut and I believe it is due to bad water conditions because he is getting vitamin a. I cleaned the tank out, pretty dirty I must say, and I bought Flukers Repta Rinse Reptile Rinse....I was wondering if this should take care of the problem if I can pry his eyes open with a cue tip and drop the medicine in for a few days?

If you have red swollen closed eyes and when you open them you see yellow pus, he needs a vet and antibiotics as soon as possible. The Repti rinse you bought is good for minor eye ailments, but not for this...

I agree with soopermum. They eyelids are pretty sensitive, so they would still absorb the medication... but at this point your turtle should be checked out professionally.

They are not red, just the pale green. So if they go red I should take him to the vet? Am I too late to take care of them myself since they are not red?

That doesn't really decrease the urgency of the situation. Your turtle's eyes have an infection, get him/her to a vet ASAP.

What do you mean when you say your turtle is getting Vit A? Are you giving it to him as a supplement? If so, how and how much is he getting? Because of the pus, a herp vet is a good idea.

Since you think the problem is due to the water, keep it clean. What size tank is he in, how much water is in it, how big is he and what kind of filter do you use? How often do you clean the tank and change the water?
