Hey everyone, I just bought my RES turtle NOVA 2 weeks ago...and the outter edges of his shell and one piece on top is peeling...I checked his shell today and there isnt any weird smells, no soft spots or white marks underneath and on top. I think its normal shedding but I want to make sure...he's not that big so i guess he might just be getting bigger from some of the other reviews i've read. If I could get your input that would be great! thanks!
:D

If you are referring to the piece of shell that is sticking up, that is normal, especially if the shell underneath looks healthy & good.

That's just one of the pieces that are visable, the edges are all doing the same thing...he just got out of the water so you can't see it ther..lol but thats for your input! I'm glad to hear its normal! :D

How long is the shell? Your stud may be a female ;)

I agree. Looks like dainty little female toenails to me.

That shedding looks great. Some turtles have trouble shedding the pieces of their shell. Yours appears to be progressing normally.

Can you provide more pics, especially of the underside of the tail?

Looks like a good shedding is coming (look how far up that shedding scute is). :)

At the size your turtle is (this is the shell length without the curve?), if your turtle doesn't have spiky front nails, I'm thinking you've got a lady. :)
