I use those candle melters from yankee candle and i usually clean the dried wax off when i put a new melt in it and as i was doing that a piece shot into normans tank and he devoured it with a quickness.
This happened last night, he ate this morning, is acting normal.

Could a piece of wax hurt him, it wasnt too big, about the size of a bb from a bb gun, maybe a lil bigger.

I use an oven rack for the top of his rubbermaid so the piece was able to fall right in. I used to use a screen until i found out the holes werent big enuff for the UVB rays n stuff so i changed it.

Ive had him for almost a year and im a nervous wreck. Anyone have a say in the matter?

How is he acting? Is his appetite normal? Any lethargy? If it was me, I'd watch him extra, extra careful. Though, I'm not a vet so I cant say if the wax would do any damage - I'd call a vet and ask them what they think.

How big is he? One piece the size of a BB doesn't sound like it would hurt him (if you're talking about size).

You may be able to see that the piece of wax eventually passes through. I don't think it's digestable so it should remain in tact. If you do find it on the bottom of the tank (or maybe on top if it floats) be sure and scoop it up so he won't eat it again!

Yeah, unless there's some kind of toxic substance in the fragrance I can't imagine it would hurt him. And I'd be willing to bet that most scented candles would be non toxic...imagine how many kids eat those things. I've definitely eaten wax in the past. If you're concerned, maybe call the company and ask if it's non-toxic, call the vet and see what he thinks, or even try poison control. We had to call them once because my cat ate the silica packet out of a shoebox, and they knew what to do about that.

Thank you all for the replies. We appreciate it!
I have been keeping a close eye on him through the day and he seems just fine. eating, basking, playing as usual. I will also be checking his bombs when he decides to drop them 2 see if i can get rid of eat before he has another go at it. The candle says non-toxic right on it so im not worried about it.
what i was worried about was maybe some type of blockage but like said above, im sure tons of kids eat wax. I used to eat a ton of wax when i was a kid wit those wax juice drinks we used to have. Bite a nice chunk of wax off the top and drink the juice!!! REMEMBER THOSE!!
But anyway. Thanx for the replies and concern. And i will rub him on my car tomorrow, see if i can get that nice RES SHINE!

I do remember those.....they still sell them & I used to love 'em as a kid. Nowadays I think they are way too gaggy sweet.

My dad was a beekeeper when I was a kid & sometimes would bring home fresh honeycomb for me to chew on too.....kinda like an "alternative" to chewing gum.

And I don't think I have to remind those of you who had the metal braces as a kid about the wax they gave you to cover up the "rough" areas of the braces to prevent rubbing/sores.

Yes, wax has many uses besides candles!!!

Yea, i remember when you chew into the wax bottle, the sweet juice mixes with the wax like gum.

I used to have a friend in school who's dad was a beekeeper too. I remember chewing on some honeycomb and making candles by rolling thin sheets of beeswax around a wick.
