My turtle fell of the bacony yesterday. she looked fine when i picked her up from down stairs but i noticed that she didnt hide her head inside.
she is in very bad condition now. her head is completely out of the shell, barely moves and is not eating. the problem is that i live in egypt and i cant find one vet that would deal with a turtle, its killing me to see her suffering like this. i dont know what to do.

I'm so sorry to hear that! How big is your turtle? Did she land on a soft carpet or a hard floor? There's a section on this website that talks about what to do for serious injuries, you may want to look at that to see if there is anything you can do for her. An emergency visit to a vet is critical if you can find one. For now, just keep her as comfortable and quiet as you can. Make sure she is warm too. She just suffered major trauma and needs as little stress as possible.

What a shame! I think David told you everything there is to do for now. I'll keep you and your turtle in my thoughts.

Marhaba Ola,

We feel for you. Here in Jordan there are also no herp vets. Just keep calling around to regular vets and tell them your situation, and you might find one who even if not an expert in water turtles might be willing to try. They at least have regular vet training and access to medication and information. They will be able to at least take an x-ray and see if anything is broken. Also try the zoo or "animal rescue" places. If we can make things work here in Amman, it should be much easier in Cairo. Keep us posted and salamat to the turtle.

That's an excellent idea. Try the zoo. If they have reptiles, they should be able to at least refer you to whoever they use for vet care.
