i feel so new to this whole thing with turtles all over again but i need help. after looking at my turtle a while ago, i noticed there wore sores on her neck. i don't know where they came from either and i believe these are bite marks but thats what im hoping but i honestly do not know. shes been acting differently lately. shes active and doing her normal thing but still these sores concern me can anyone help?











also i believe shes gravid. shes been kicking around her back legs alot. and her plastron is a bit bulged out. as in it sticks out like a beer belly. and i know im not overfeeding her because her plastron has always been flat. sorry about the picture quality i took these on my ipod touch.

They look more like fungus than bite marks. Are the sores soft or hard?

i JUST update my topic with a pic of about the same thing of my female, is she housed with a male? do they mate? does he bite her?

the sores arent soft. yes shes housed with a male and thats my best bet into thinking hes biting her. he does attempt to mate with her and i dont really see the action but i see him go for it. the biting i haven't seen neither

it seems like your having the same issue i am, here is what i know from researching it online, The male TRies to entice the female with his flutter dance, she can choose to accept or reject him, usually the latter with smaller enclosures and long time roommates. Once this happens over a 2 or 3 mating seasons, the female has OFFICIALLY rejected the male for life, the male knows this and becomes SUPER aggressive, biting: the biting becomes SO aggressive that it can kill the female as she is NO use to him anymore. sadly The ONLY solution is to remove one of them .... or put a divider in the tank. i know its not what you want to hear, but i am going through the EXACT same thing right now.

man, i have a troubling situation. i notice her reject him many times. she wont flutter back with him, he would flutter every chance he gets and she wont follow into it. hes been very grouchy with me as well and would hiss and bit at me all the time. hes getting melanistic too and getting dark spots all over his head and is getting very visible

im looking into taking her out. its for the best

I'm just asking if what you see is the same to what your RES has. Since your turtle has whitish/yellowish sores, I think it's fungus.

not exactly. ill get enhanced pictures so you see for yourself a little better ill get them up very soon. their a bit hard and they changed in some color. they seem to bother her when i touch them as well i dont think she would react that way to fungus only to scars. they seem to be healing up a bit.
