Hi, I’m new to this website but I need help. I have a 4 year old RES and the past few weeks she’s been very restless, clawing at the tank and splashing non-stop. I’m used to her doing this during his feeding time (in the morning) and when theirs people around to get them to feed her, but she’s been doing it constantly, even during the night. She’s also stopped eating, today was the first time she’s eaten in a few days but she didn’t finish her food either, and she’s not basking as much. I’ve noticed her kick her back legs while basking but not often at all. I figured she might have eggs and felt around her tail area and it’s definitely hard back there, which I’m assuming are eggs.

I made her a nesting area with soil and put her in a quiet place in my house so she can start digging, but she seems to hate it. Maybe because she’s only been there for around 40 minutes so she needs to get adjusted, but she’s been doing the same behavior where it looks like she’s trying to escape. Could it be possibly there’s something else wrong and she doesn’t have eggs?

It does sound like she is gravid. Make sure you feel the gap in front of the rear legs, not the area between the tail. It's possible the nesting area is not suitable and she needs to look for a different one.
