Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I've got a buddy who also loves turtles who's willing to sell me either a 10 gallon tank for 8 bucks or a 15 gallon for 12 bucks w/ three waterfall filters included for the hatchling if I decide to do it. I would still need a heater, basking surface, and lights. Like I said... AHHHH!!!

Get the 15 gallon although it won't last you long.

Use a storage container... you should be able to easily find sizes up to 40 gallons.

What equipment and tank do you have now? Can you pass those down as you upgrade your main tank?

Probably. I've got a Fluval 205 Canister Filter. Two lights, UVB and Basking Bulb w/ two clamp lamps, turtle ramp, Aqueon Shatter Proof Water Heater... I just can't afford it right now. And I leave for vacation in a few days and would have to trust my neighbor with a new baby turtle. I'll wait til afterwards and if he's still there, I gotta get him, If not.. I'll wait til I see another that catches my eye.

Hi, how did this work out for you? My wife and I had an older (1 year) red eared slider and then got a baby slider. The older one tried to make lunch of the baby. We bought a second, smaller tank for the baby and then got a second baby to keep her company. The 1 year old and the babies are now living happily in separate tanks. If the older one catches sight of the babies she goes berserk.
