General Care Discussion :: Help!

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I have a red eared slider that was abandoned at a PetSmart on the shelf. He is tiny (1.5 inches). However I am concerned about his shell. It is pointy in the middle. I’m not sure if it’s normal or not and I can’t seem to get him to eat anything except the hatchling pellets. I have never owned a turtle and i am a little lost.

The ridge down the shell is usually a little more pronounced when they are hatchlings. Isn't he PetSmart's responsibility? They aren't supposed to have them under 4" in shell length.

As for getting him to eat... how long have you had him? What sort of tank/setup does he have now?

He was left on their shelf by a customer. They cannot have any turtle under 4in for sale. I took him in. I have been doing research and I believe I have been over feeding him pellets. It just seems a little too pronounced or maybe I’m just making into a bigger deal then it is.

You can post a picture if you'd like, or post a link to one.
