Wait a minute--you have two tanks, one is a hexagon that's 24 inches deep (meaning high) and 18 inches side to side (i.e., tall but not much length) and one is a regular tank 35-40 gallons with what measurements--the length is 36 inches and the width is 16 inches? The tank with more surface area (longer length and width) is better because your turtle will have more horizontal swimming room, not vertical swimming room.
I had thought the choice was originally between the 10-gallon and the 30-gallon...
