Hey i was wondering how do your turtles sleep??.... DOn't turtle need to be near the water lvl when they sleep so they can breath?

Mine hangs out near the heater at the top.... Is there something else i can use so he can rest just below water lvl........ casue he doesn't look very comfortable on the top of the heater.... and he doesn't like sleeping on the ramp of the turtle dock....

Turtles can hold their breath underwater up to three hours while sleeping (so I've read). I've seen mine sleep on the very bottom before and at other times on top of various plants and on the ramp.

Scooter sleeps in his plants which so he's about 4 inches under water. Simon has taken to sleeping on a rock so that he's only 2 inches underwater.

My turtles sleep in various places, sometimes they sleep on the bottom of the tank, others while hanging on to things floating in the tank.. ie: plants, driftwood, corkbark, or the ramp to their basking dock.

My turtle, usually sleeps half on his dock, and half in the water, I'd love to get some pictures of that.

My turtle's sleep pattern varies also. Sometimes he lays in shallow water, all the way on the bottom, and last night I saw him in the corner with his head tilted to the side and his claws reaching almost three inches above his head. It reminded me of when my husband falls asleep playing video games.

Mine do that. Sometimes I have to turn the light off for the night while they're still basking. They'll sleep up there for a couple hours. I think because the dock is still warm.

My female is the only turtle that does that. The others float on the ramp of the dock or on the plants.
