Habitat - Indoor :: New Tank?

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

I am thinking of getting a larger setup for my Turtles in about a month. There is a 75 gallon trough basically the same as this one, only deeper:

But I am not sure what kind of island or basking area I could create. Any ideas?

A number of people have used pvc pipe to create a frame and then a piece of tile or slate on top to use as a platform. You do not have to glue it together just cut and fit the pieces to the size you need. We have some hollow bricks with a piece of tile in our tank. The minnows in our tank sometimes use the holes in the brick to hide from the turtles and avoid getting eaten.

Where have you found a 75-gallon Rubbermaid stock tank? I've only seen them in 50-gallon, 100-gallon and larger sizes.

For the basking area, I like corkbark.
