I have two hatchlings and I just put them in there new tank. I have about 3 gallons of water in the 10 gallon tank. I think this is there first time in this much water. The friend I got them from only had them in about five inches. They seem to keep getting stuck under the turtle dock. I'm a little worried. Am I just being paranoid, are they just gonna have to figure things out for themselves? Help!

How are they getting stuck in the dock?
Water should be as high as possible without submerging the dock and not high enough for the turtles to escape.

The water should be filled about 2 inches from the top. What do you mean by getting stuck?

What else do you have with your tank?

well okay not exactly stuck but they seem to be haveing trouble when they try to come up for air under the turtle dock...well its actually called turtle landing. They just seem to not have the best navigation skills. I think I'm just nervous.

Do they try to stick their head between the dock and the glass? One of my guys did that for the first two months I had em till his head got to big to fit. I think they feel safe under it, and just stick their noses up to get air. It's kinda cute.

They may be going under their to hide.. do you have any plants floating in the tank for them to rest on or to hide in?? If not, maybe you want to get some. Also, fill up the tank 3/4 of the way. They love to swim. As long as you provide a place for them to rest.. again, plants work here too, they should be fine. Did you get the turtle landing from Petsmart that fits in the corner? I had gotten those but mine broke.. :(

They seem to be fine now. They found a spot between the landing and the glass and kinda hang out there alot now. Yep, got the landing at pet smart. I ordered some floating plastic plants from ebay so they should be here in a few days. I think that might encourage one of the babies to swim around more he seems a lttle reluctant to swin out in the tank very far. My other little guy just swims around all over the tank.
