start by reading this....

you will now need to increase the tank/filtration sysyem of your current habitat... I'm not sure how compatible that cooter is with RES, so you will need to do some searching.

You're going to eventually need a huge tank or preferably a pond for the two of them, especially if the cooter is a female.

Thanks so much guys. I will definately read all your material. Currently their in a 40 gallon tank. I know I'll need a bigger one soon, but for now, we're on day 3 and all is good at least it seems. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks again guys. I'm glad I found this place. I LOVE MY TURTLE. It's so funny, because who would have ever thought you could love a turtle and I really love my turtle LOL!!!!!!!!!!

It took me awhile to find a spot in the tank where my turtle would stop playing with the heater. It's a titanium one that attaches with suction cups and no matter where I would put it he would play with it and knock it loose. He liked standing on it. I finally put it behind one of the PVC pipes I used to create the basking area. He still tries to play with it but he hasn't been able to knock it loose anymore.
