i bought this sand that is supposed ro be good for calcium because it has calcium in it and they apparently injest it. But the sand makes the water kind of cloudy and it is hard to clean. What do you recommend sand or the rocks. And what kind either way email me some links

Do you actually ever read this forum or the website? I'm just curious because this topic has been talked about many, many times. Perhaps instead of having others do your research you should it yourself, you might be surprised at how much you actually can learn all on your own :)

I am asking because i dont have the time to research it so i just wanted to hear some peoples opinion. Just because one person writes something in a book or a website does not mean it is always the best thing. That is what the forums ar3e for people talking and sharing opinions and experiences. If i wanted the opinion of one author i would go buy a book but i am on this forum for peoples opinions. These are my first turtles and i am trying to make everything perfect for them so they will survive. I have one doing great the other one wont eat and i am trying to find solutions to problems as fast as posssible considering i have tried everything posted on this site and other sites. This is he way i research i find what has and hasnt worked from other people

Sorry but if you have time to be on here asking questions, then you have time to be doing your own research. We've already done the research.. answered the question mulitple times so what you're asking is for us to do it all AGAIN because you don't have the time.

What has and hasn't worked is already on here, you just need to take the time to find it. Like I said, we've done all the work already and it's there if you'd take the time to look.

I just want to add that if it's Calci-sand or anything like that, it's usually meant for terrariums. I use rocks in my tank because I can't figure how the sand works. Seems to me it would clog the filter and make cleaning quite difficult. Large river rocks work best for me, and it gives the turts something to play with. They love to push them around.

well with the attitude you have it makes it crappy. This forum was grat answered alot of question but it is a forum a place for people to discuss things. If i wanted a cokkie cutter answer i would buy a book and if you odnt like what people post dont answer the questions and dont reply. I mean jesus you get mad that someone posts something on the forum you dont like, oh well to bad this is a forum a place for people to talk and exchange information.

i wasnt talking to you, i was talking to turtle rugby. And its the fact that the people are to lazy to search for topics before we need to repeat the answers over and over again...people are just to careless.

If you read the Posting Rules and Guides found at the top of the page you would see that it specifically requests that before you post anything at all on the forum you do a search for the answer yourself.

Before you post
Search the forum for answers regarding questions or problems you may have before you post a question. Reading and searching can resolve most questions new turtle owners have. Read the primary site, redearslider.com, which contains a lot of information that can offer insight into the care of your slider.

Many illnesses and injuries are preventable with proper care. If you feel your turtle needs urgent care, you should take him/her to receive qualified care immediately. Delays and excuses can increase the magnitude of injury or illness your slider may experience.

This isn't just for newbies but for veterans on here as well. If we all follow the rules laid out for us, then there wouldn't have to be posts such as this one where the rules have to be explained again and again. And there's nothing wrong with the people who do abide by the guidelines pointing this out to someone who doesn't. It will help things run smoother for everyone.
