Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

so at some point i know im going to post pictures (sneak a digital camera into the store) but honestly, what else can i do but report this pet store? they have 7 turtles in a 30 gallon tank! at least id assume it was 30 gallons...it might have been less. i havent known turtles long enough to know how large gallons are. but its only filled halfway up with water, there is only ONE light, and theres so many of them crammed in there. when i asked the lady how long they'd been in there, she woudnt say (said she didnt know).

problem is....i want to get one of these turtles in the next few weeks but i fear by then they'll be in serious trouble health wise. they're all at least 4 inches due to law and i dont even have the money to save them from there for at least a few weeks. i feel so bad :(

if this thread has to be moved....sorry to the admins! im new to the site (though its wonderful) and plan on posting pics of this horrible place soon. also for evidence for animal control. i live like 5-10 minute from it so ill be checking in on them in a few weeks to see if they've followed orders or not (since i will be speaking to the manager myself if i have to).

i just feel like they're intentionaly killing these turtles :( they even have a whole row of books on setups and how to properly care for them...yet they're killing them instead :(

will post pix soon :(

you're doing the right thing.

oh, and about the digital camera, just walk in there and take pics, and if they ask why, just tell them you're reporting them to animal control, i mean, what can they do to you? throw you out? if it's as bad as it seems, they wouldn't know if you walked in or some other person did, so just bring it in and snap away :)

Go in and take pictures and just say you want to get a turtle for your friend but you want to surprise them so you're going to just lay this pictures out and ask which turtle they think is the best because you are doing a report about turtles and you want the best picture to be on that report. That way you'll know which turtle your friend wants.

I've seen people do this before and no one has a clue that they are really turning them in. Also if the camera has a video record mode, use that too. Since the turtles are all four inches and are crammed into this little tank they really need to get out of the there so the sooner you can do this the better.

yeah the digital cam does have a 30 second video feed. ill be going there within the next week or so. unfortunately i dont even have the money right now to get a full grown 4 incher to help rescue them, but maybe by saying something we can get them outa there. or into better conditions. i doubt the petstore thinks them dying every few weeks is unusual and thats why they keep them all jammed into that tiny tank. who knows why these people do this.

but ill update when i take pictures. and yes i plan on saying that im taking pictures for personal use and if they want to inquire further i will ask for the manager and personally tell her im reporting their store.
