hi,

My friend has a trutle and I am not sure what it is Like type<!But it has no UV or UB? Light and it dosen't have a dock to get out of and it's stuck inside of a inch of water in a tiny shoe box size container  with no filter all she feeds it is some meat whever she wants too.I showed her this website and she was like I am not neglecting my turtle etc..I offerd 250 kroner just for the turtle too give it another chance the turtle is eleven yrs. old and has been in that cage sense it was a baby I touched it and it's shell was soo soft not normal it's definatley not a RES it has white on it's neck and tiny claws well about 2 or 3 inches or more I would say.I feel so bad for it..

-Thanks ananomus..

This is so very sad. :( Can you find out what kind of turtle your friend has? (You could try looking in the gallery at www.chelonia.org/bygeography.htm by clicking on where you are for starters.) When you find out, perhaps you could print out some care sheets for that type of turtle and show them to your friend...(When you talk to her, try not to make her feel defensive.)

If it has a soft shell,it might be the consequence of not having a UVB light, and a dock for 11 years.Has she at least taken her outside to get some sunrays. If she didn't,my best advice would be to take the poor thing to the vet ASAP

I had a similar thing happen to me about a year ago. My folks live in the bahamas and while there for xmas i ran into a local fisherman i know who said he had caught a loggerhead. I went to his house and he had the plastic vegetable crisper from his fridge for the tank. The poor thing was about 6 inches long and the tank was about 12. I immediately bought him a turtle pool. No pun intended. He swam around hapily for about six months eating lobster and conch until he was about 9" long and then he grew tired of him so back to the ocean he went...He might have done the turtle a favor in the long run...

there are some turtles that are naturally softshell, you might want to check with her. I'm sure somehow she took care of her turtle in her own right way or else I"m sure her turtle wouldn't be able to survive for 11 years. She definitly needs to give her turtle bigger thank though :(

It might be a map turtle if it has a white face....Plz try to convince her that the turtle deserves a better life.
