Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

No I mean acrylic scratches way more than glass. I have a male with sharp long claws and my glass isn't scratched.

So What kind of glass are you looking at getting? The kind that brings out colors? I forget what they call it but sounds like more money to me!

It's called Starphire glass

I'm hoping I'm years away from a tank upgrade, but I know I have one more to go. I'll admit this intrigues me, but I'd really like to see it in a set up aquarium before spending that kind of extra money.

yes ljapa that's what I will be using it is clearer like acrylic but resist scratching more than acrylic;) When spending that much on a tank a couple hundred isn't much a big deal for the presentation of the tank.

Never heard of a special glass, I guess your talking about the glass that you can drill a sump and over flow holes into, 80% of the glass aquariums being sold instores like pet shops, walmarts, etc. are tempered glass, which breaks pretty easily. If I had to choose between a 200G glass tank, or a 300G+ pond that most likely costs more than half of a 200G glass tank new, (can convert to a indoor pond if needed), I think I would choose the pond, which you can drill into, and never have to worry about the seal going bad (some ponds/stock tanks have a drain port built in, some "can" leak, some will never).
Thanks,
Richard

Ziggnick I LOVE the idea on a longer tank! thats alway my thought when I look at them in Petco/ Petsmart is theres not much room for distant swimming!!

Kansasslider Oh no y'all are fine! I love hearing all the different options! I haven't desided yet, but I'm checking cregslist daily and I'm on the look out!

These are all really cool ideas/ possibilities! Thanks so much!!!

It's usually just tempered glass on the bottom hence why most people who drill tanks drill the back and not the bottom. The only way to get a drilled bottom glass tank is to buy one pre-drilled from the factory aka "reef ready".

They offer regular plate glass and Starphire (low-iron glass). Both glass and acrylic will get scratched, but glass not as easily.
