woohoo, SCORE so i went into petco today.. they had in a special order of albino bristlenose plecos in, they are tiny but i picked up a couple and a little common pleco for 5 dollars. The lady was nice and even threw in a piece of medium driftwood for free, and about 5 snails. They are currently happy outside sucking up scum in my outside tank with my other snaily friends!

I think I read on here some place that you had to be careful having pleco's in the tank because the turtle can eat them and can choke on them due to their spine or something.

How does a pleco survive in the tank water that a turtle lives in? I mean I think most fish end up dying because of the ph or amonia levels turtles create.

I may be wrong and most likely are, but I do believe I read that on here.

A pleco may survive in a turtle tank for a while by acting swift and agile. Mine is going on 4-5 months.

haha no they are not in the actual tank at the moment. WAYYY to small. I have a friend who has a bristlenose that has lived in his turtle tank for 2 years. And his turtle is a fish muncher.

If your filter is working, sized correctly and your keeping up with water changes your tank's ammonia should be zero.

There are a lot of stories of large pleco's living with turtles, maybe the same amount of stories of plecos vanishing one day even after months/years of peaceful co-existence, it all depends on the turtle. I wouldn't go getting too attached. Common plecos can also grow to be close to 2 feet long and maybe up to 9" in a year's time!

Oh yes my water is great..i test often..something to do, plus i am always paying with something.the tanks are my zen garden. The powerhouse are actually for the refugium.. I'm hoping the bristle nose may hold its own later on..I was just stoked i found them at petco.they don't carry them, and i was looking at insane shipping..better a 2 dollar snack then a 30. I have a tailless fish that has been in the tank for 3 months.my wife wants me to put him outside..but i can't catch him.he was from an original set of 20 e dropped in when the tank was bare bottomed to eat the junk..been through 2 more sets of 12.trust me i know nothing is safe. I drop snails in there every so often to thin out my population..don't last long.

My apologies for the random remark however I was noticing that you have a small platform under the water. Do they like it? Would you recommend it? I am upgrading my little guy to a bigger tank and I was thinking about making him one. Any thoughts?
