Signs of constipation/impaction would include reduced activity and kicking at his tail. If he's acting normal, then he's just eating the poop.

Sounds like my Shledon. I've nicknamed him "Poop Eater". lol You have a little cuite there. I hope things are working out for you.

I seriously have not seen a bit of poop in like 2 months. He takes after my cat Dixie, who overeats, pukes, and then eats her barf. It's like, "That's disgusting! But thank you for cleaning up after yourself..." :P

^^Right? Nothing better than a pet that cleans up after themselves. lol Although it is gross.

Hey guys, sorry I've not been back in awhile. not sure if i should start a new thread or just continue to post in this one. our little turtle seems to be doing well. much more active then he used to be. I can post some updated pics a bit later. Unfortunately hes still in his 10gallon tank which I've been cleaning just about every other night, which is a bit of a pain, but at least the turtles less shy then he used to be! my s/o decided he wanted to keep the larger tanks we have for fish and get another larger tank for the turtle, so we've been searching for a larger tank without too much luck. I've seen on other sites where people use large 45 gallon plastic Sterilite type storage containers, has anyone on here done that?
A little petstore has recently opened locally, they don't have too many fish supplies yet but a friend said they have a 75gallon tank for $150, i'm not sure if that comes with a hood or anything. i was really hoping to get him/her a 100 gallon tank atleast. So im debating if we should just go ahead and get that tank, or wait and see if we can get him something larger.

$150 is a bit on the pricey side. Would you be willing to pick up a used tank? Craigslist usually has very good deals for tanks 100 gallons and smaller.

I thought it was a bit much too.. I'd love to find a used tank. unfortunately there's not really a local craigslist. I've looked over the closest ones (nearly 2 hours in either direction) and had no luck. I posted on a local message board too and not had any luck yet. I really miss living in a big city! that's why I was wondering about using a plastic bin for awhile, until we can find a nice deal on a large tank.

I used a plastic bin from Walmart for my turtle when he was about 2 in. and then he lived in it till about 4 in. If you look at Tokus photo album in my signature and scroll to the pics with him in the bin it will give you a idea, what I used. I built a custom stand for it too. Cost like $30 in materials. The bin was like $10-$20.

Keep an eye out for other types of classifieds and flyers too. Petco will also occasionally have sales on tanks 55 gallons and less. Plastic bins like slider_keeper mentioned work well too. Sometimes it's better for hatchlings since they get fewer distractions.
