I don't clean my hoses either. As long as water flow isn't impeded there's really no need other than aesthetics. You should have enough bio media and filtration in the main body of your filters to handle any minute amount of gunk in the hoses. If the crud in your hoses causes your tanks to uncycle... then your hoses are WAY too long or your filter is severely undersized.

Well it just looks gross. They get a orange/reddish color after a couple months. It's not that big of a bother, and it makes me feel better :lol:
