Do you guys have your tank lights on a timer? Is this recommended?

Ok thx for the suggestions. My next question, is it ok for my turtle to be left in the dark. My tank is in the basement that's temp controlled. But at night it's dark down there.

Both my turtles are in the dark at night when their lights go off. I also have timers for the daylight and basking lights for the tanks. Heck my cichlid tank lights are on a timer as well.

You don't need any light on at night.

They do fine without lights. In nature on dark nights they don't have night lights;)
