Habitat - Indoor :: Basking docks?

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

So my Turtle is actually 9 1/2 inches not 10 inches, any how the Mopani Wood I bought for her is 10 by 12 inches but I feel as if it still to small even though my Turtle is 9 1/2 by 6 1/2 inches in shell size. I am going to list 2 basking platforms:
this one
http://www.tmart.com/Reptology-Turtle-P ... rice=us_us
and
http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/p ... agpspn=pla

Can you let me know if you have experiences with any of these, and if they work well with a 7 pound turtle that is 9 1/2 by 6 1/2 inches.
Which one would you suggest most? remember that I wan't one that works best. Also can I form the turtle ramp however I want?

How is is your tank?

I don't think there are any basking dock that will really be comfortable to a turtle that size. Cork bark may be good.

The tank is unfortunately relatively small for her, size but I am getting help from a very good friend, and am working and trying to save money for a custom built 250 or 135 gallon acrylic aquarium. Her tank is 40 gallons, so when I upgrade there is gonna be a huge difference in tank size. I was thinking maybe the large Turtle Pier would work. I will see what happens in the future.

I haven't tried it before, but I like the acrylic Turtle Ramp. If you want something big and strong, consider a PVC/Tile combo. Very easy to setup.

And you're looking at saving money on tanks, look into Rubbermaid stock tanks.

I surly wouldn't buy an acrylic tank. A turtle that size would scratch the heck out of acyrilic!

My 40 gallon is an acrylic and it does have quite a lot of scratches, but I let it pass, any how I might go with what Steve suggested. A rubbermaid stock tank... maybe like a 300 gallon of those.

I dislike those because they can't see out, but that's just me.

I am sure they like it, looking through a glass or plastic all the time can be stressful, but not having any idea on what's on the other side is not so much stressful and also its bigger than most tanks :D.

I think about it like this. They can't see out of a river or lake so stock tanks mimic their natural surondings. As long as you provide natural things in their habitat! Rocks logs etc....Flowing water helps also I think.
