So I just rescued 4 half dollar sized red eared sliders and yellow bellies. I'm not prepared for them right now... I'm currently living in the spare bedroom at a friends house while my boyfriend and I close on our house. So right now I have a rubbermaid for them, but I do have a 30 gallon in storage for them when we close on the house. My question is, there is no none water area in the current rubbermaid for them. I live in Hawaii and have the large lava rocks in my backyard. Can I boil one of them to clean it and put in their or will it leach bad stuff into the water?

Thanks,
Logan

I don't know about lava rocks but anything that is usually aquarium/fish safe is OK to use. There are plenty of inexpensive platforms that you can make but you can also look into a simple resin reptile platform to use.

Thanks, I went to petco today and got a half log that floats around the tank. I think two are RES and two are YBS. The two RES love the log the others not so much yet.

Those logs look great, but the turtles might outgrow it quickly. Keep an eye on any potential issues.

For your own safety, please don't boil rocks...ever.
