Hello everyone- I am new- I just got three yellow bellied sliders- each just a little over 1 inch- right now they are in a 10 gallon tank -seem happy and have plent of space- but I am planning on my next tank as I know I will need it soon.
I want to get a tank to last a few years- as we plan on building a pond - outdoor, at some point - it's warm year round here so perfect place for that- with that said - how long will they be happy and healthy in a tank that is 36 wide x 24 deep x 16 high? will that buy a couple of years while plan andfigure out the pond? Thanks for all your advice-

That tank is roughly 60 gallons. So you're looking at a year or so. Two years might be a stretch IMO, but if they get along, then go for it. If there is a male in that mix, then I think the pond will need to be extra large when harassment/aggression starts.

Thanks -Steve, I have another question while we're at it. I ordered a kitchen island on Amazon to put it on- because I liked the look- and whatever-
And I hadn't considered whether or not it could handle the weight - catskill craftsmen "the big work center" - it comes up on Amazon- it has a butcher block top and looks solid- but now I am worried any thoughts on that?

That depends. Are you going to fill the tank? How it it built? Solid? A gallon of water weighs approximately 8.34 pounds. If you fill your 60 gallon tank that's 500 pounds. I would for sure remove the wheels. Good luck.

I decided not to risk it- luckily I can return it-
Ok- so what if I buy an 80 gallon- by going 36x30x18- I don't want them to outgrow tank before pond is ready- Miami- things get done slow- and permits are required as well- which can take a year all by themselves- that's about as big as.

If it's not a substantial difference I will save the money and stick with the 60 gallon-

I'd say the 60 will work.
