I keep fish with my turtle and use sodium thiosulfate. I bought 2 pounds of it for about $10 shipped. you mix 1 pound to a gallon of water and I use 20 drops per 5 gallons of water to treat it for my fish. You really cant get much cheaper than that. 1 gallon of mix can last a lifetime. I believe you also overlook the fact that many fish live long lives. Goldfish alone can live 20+ years easily with proper care as an example so dosing water for chlorine/chloramine so it should be safe for a turtle too.

I think at this point, it's between the "it works" camp to "why risk it". Both are very convenient to use and are not too expensive. A major plus with carbon is that it can be stored indefinitely, which helps when you buy in bulk.

This is a religious debate. Some believe in using it, other do not.

I use it. I find that it's safe for my fish and therefore safe for turtles. I use Seachem Safe, which is the powdered form for SeaChem Prime.

1 gram treats 200 gallons. $15 gets you 250g on Amazon.
