I have a 20 gallon aquarium and a 40 gallon aquarium. I have a plan for putting the 20 inside the 40.
The 20 will work out as the water portion of the aquarium. I will then fill the rest of the 40 with sand.

I want to maximize a large land portion and a large water portion.
Thoughts? I have 2 four inches Red eared sliders BTW.

The important thing is that more water means cleaner water. They need a basking area, not a land area. So what you describe takes away too much IMO.

At 4", you should know what sex they are. Males will have to be separated. Some females as well.

I agree with Steve. I would fill the 40 and build an atba for it.
1 Male Mississippi Map/Mississippi
1 Female RES/Slidy.
1 DBT White Concentric Female/ Lucky
1 DBT Male/ Spots
(Housed in the same tank)

300 gallon indoor stock tank, FX6 & FX5 filters. Mega-Ray 100w UVB bulb.
