It differs for the kind of bulb, but most importantly check to make sure it does not bother your turtle for the first few days.

Are there instructions that came with it? Their site is not loading for me, but it's usually kept 6-12". I'll try a burn in of 12 hours then just use with caution. Just a note, Exo Terra bulbs might not need a lengthy burn in, it was a few other brands that really require it.

I try to burn in a few hours today see if it works coz im going to further my studies in another city on saturday and my parents arent knowledgeable bout res haha.okay i will try to burn in the bulb for longer time just in case and keep an eye on him.then try to look for a higher lamp place coz exo terra chart says 16 inches away from two star reptiles. Okay thank you so much for ur help.this site has helped me a lot. Kudos on the effort.thank you.

That's a new "intense" version, but you are right it does say 16". I'm not sure if there is a price difference, but most RES keepers stay away from higher UVB output bulbs (like "Desert").

And i will try to look for more suitable bulbs. Uvb 150 or uvb 100 exo terra is more suitable for res on distance 12 inches? And how do i bring the bulb on plane? thanks

If your turtle is not experiencing any problems, then I would continue what you're doing. The 100/150 look fine. If you have a larger tank, you might want the 26W version.

Carry it on a plane? It should be OK with your carry-on. It should be fine with check-in as well, I don't think there would be a problem.
