What do you mean by scutes overlapping? What causes it and how do i prevent it? Coz i just known yesterday that my mom could have given him more food than what he is supposed to get for the past 3 months while im away from home.

Where they meet.... if they grew fast, they might overlap and that lets debris and water get trapped in there.

You just have to keep an eye on it and make sure it stays clean. Make sure your turtle is not overfed, and is a regular basker.

while we're on the subject of filtration, I have a Fluval 305 on a 40 breeder, mostly filled ~35gal. I plan on building a ATBA, and will have the tank filled, is the 305 sufficient? There's another 305 reasonably priced on Craigslist, and I was thinking about using both, if that's whats needed. thanks.

If I was to pick up the other 305, would I just run the return of pump 1 into the intake of pump 2, then the final return into the pump, or is there more to it?

I might be mistaken but I don't think you can run filters in line like that ? If you can I wouldn't recommend it. I would run them separately for better filtration.

Yeah, I missed that last part. I'd just run one filter.

Maybe for certain kinds of pumps and returns, but I don't think I would tinker with an aquarium filter like that.
