Has anyone tried using ammonia remover chips in their turtle filter? I have too much ammonia in my tank but changing 25% of the water weekly isn't helping.

How much water is in the tank? You can probably reduce it to every couple of weeks.

It's a 50gal tank with about 45gal of water for just one turtle (gave away my other). I was doing it every 2-3 weeks but it was way worse

What kind of filter do you have?

I have a NatGeo IFS50 and a NatGeo IFS40 with charcoal, ceramics, sponges, and phosphate. These have been the best filters out of all the ones I've tried. I don't have the proper set up or space for a canister filter right now but I'm working towards that

You're definitely going to want to upgrade, as soon as possible. If your main concern is water chemistry, something worth trying is purchasing a few good-sized bundles of bio-media (e.g., ceramic rings), placing them throughout the tank, and running air stones beneath them.
