Hello everyone,

Below is a photo of my set up. I have a question regarding UVB. The light fitting holds a UVB tube and the lamp is for heat. My question is how are the UVB waves emitted? Does my turtle have to be directly underneath the tube? This is because even though I direct the lamp towards the area underneath the UVB tube, Gamera seems to prefer basking a little to the side, that is he isnt directly underneath the fitting. Is he still getting exposure?

The set up looks good to me. The UVB light should be 6-8 inches away from the basking area, and the regular household bulb is just to add the extra heat. Since the UVB is the primary bulb over the tank, then I'd say you are fine. And, it appears that there is enough heat since he seems to be enjoying the basking!

Not sure what your hood is made out of, just make sure you don't melt it, if possible...I've done that in the past!
