Habitat - Indoor :: Help?

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Post Posted: Wed Jul 12, 2006 11:14 pm   Help?

In a nutshell, I need a new tank. I'd like to find something cheap and for pick-up in my area, but CraigsList has offered no avail. Neither have my area's Classifieds.

I know there are other sites with a system similar to CraigsList's, but I have no idea where they are.

Can anyone offer some links? I live in South Florida.

Have you looked to see if there is a freecycle group in your area?

Are you wanting a traditional tank, or are you willing to go the non-traditional route?

If you are willing to look into something different, I highly recommend buying a stock tank (Rubbermaid kind) from a feed/supply store like Tractor Supply CO. In my area a 100 gallon one can be purchased for under $70. This is a very good alternative money wise in comparison to what a traditional tank and stand would cost. They are made to hold water and will last for a while. It's worth checking into at least. :)

What kind of size are you looking for? If you want less than 75 gallons, a sterilite container is the way to go; you can get some pretty large ones at hardware or discount stores. If you want something bigger than that, a stock tank is a great choice. My 150-gallon stock tank cost $116 at Tractor Supply Co, and my RES is in HEAVEN.
I used to be a reptile expert. Now I'm just an old turtle lover.

PaperFeathers, have you tried posting ads as well? With your 2 turtles, I would look into a stock tank for now.
